South Dakota Women’s Prison Visiting Information:

The South Dakota department of correction encourages friends and family members of inmates who demonstrate a good influence to communicate and visit with an inmate. This can help in the rehabilitation process, and eventually with his or her reintegration back into society. Below are important things you should know if you are planning on visiting an inmate incarcerated in the South Dakota Department of Corrections.

You must be on the inmate's approved visitation list prior to visiting.Visiting Hours are as follows:

for the fee schedule



An account will be established in

your name upon your arrival at a DOC facility. Money

received for you will be deposited in this acc

ount. Money may be received from the

outside through the mail or from wages paid in an

institutional program or

job. In order to

have any outside funds deposited, you are r

equired to sign the Admission Document.

You may receive business/payroll checks,

cashier’s checks, government checks or

money orders through the mail onl

y for deposit into your account. All monies received

must be in U.S. dollars

and include the name of the sender. Personal checks and cash

will not be accepted. You will be

provided a monthly statement

of your account. You are



responsible for keeping track of the balance in

your account. For more information refer

    I would like to know if I can send cash to an inmate to buy paper, envelopes and stamps or any other items they may need? How much can I send? Thanks for your help. Call or text 712-281-4822. Mary Frances June 44 cotts drive. North sioux city sd.

      Hi Mary June,

      Please review our additional i section for information about sending money for an inmate account. Most prisons require the money to be sent via a money order and the inmate’s full name, prison address, and ID. No. to be listed on the money order.

      Most prisons allow family and friend’s photos. For confirmation about how many or size, you should contact directly the South Dakota Women’s Prison.
