Reception and Medical Center (RMC), West Unit Visiting Information:

The Florida department of correction encourages friends and family members of inmates who serve as good roles models to communicate and visit with an inmate. This can help the inmate in the rehabilitation process, and eventually with his or her reintegration back into society. Below are some things you should know, and important forms you will need to fill out if you are planning on visiting an inmate incarcerated in a Florida penitentiary.

You must be on the inmate's approved visitation list prior to visiting. One should fill visiting application form and the form is available in English and Spanish. Completed application (DC6-111A) should be mailed to the Classification Department at the inmate's current location. In other words mail the completed inmate visiting application to the mailing address above. Visiting Hours are as follows:
Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time).
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. (7:15 a.m. CST) on both days.
Visitors will not be processed after 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. CST) unless authorized by the duty warden.
Visitors will be allowed to park in designated spaces no earlier than 7:30 a.m. EST and 6:30 a.m. CST on visiting days.

Visitors are checked for contraband.

I want to visit my Grandson this coming Saturday. Both my Husband and I have been approved for visitation. I just found out that he is still at R.M.C. Lake Butler and he does not know that we will be visiting this week-end . Is it Okay that he doesn’t know we will be visiting ? He has written that he wants to see us.

      Hi Vicki,

If you are on the inmate’s visitor list, then it is not a problem. You can confirm the procedures by calling directly the facility.

I sent a form for visitation privileges today for John R Lamb
( U49023). He is a patient at your Medical Center. I mailed it to Madison, the address on the form. I see now after reading information on this site that mailing directly to Butler Lake may have been the best choice. I made a copy of the form. Should I also mail it to your address?
Could you also let me know about how long this process might take.

    Many Thanks

    Donalda M Lamb/Brown

Hi My nephew DC#374375 was transferred there yesterday (7-8-2014) first I would like to know is he okay. It’s called a medical center To our surprise we were told that he was being transferred to Lake County which is much closer to his family so we thought maybe he got sick or something. Also, are we allowed to visit him asap since he just got there, or do we have to wait?

Is it acceptable to send an inmate a hard cover Bible which he requested from the Institute in Basic Life Principles? His name is Kenneth Townsend DC#V36850. We want to make sure he will receive it before mailing it out. Thank you for advising us.

      Hi Pamela,

The bible has to be mailed directly from the vendor to the inmate at the prison. It cannot be mailed by the family or friends.
For information about prison life, read the 25 rules.

I am approved for visits to my brother who is in the infirmary at Butler, just out of ICU in Jacksonville. What happens if he is unable to come to the visitation center under his own power. Will they bring him there on a stretcher?
