Charlotte Correctional Institution Visiting Information:

The Florida department of correction encourages friends and family members of inmates who serve as good roles models to communicate and visit with an inmate. This can help the inmate in the rehabilitation process, and eventually with his or her reintegration back into society. Below are some things you should know, and important forms you will need to fill out if you are planning on visiting an inmate incarcerated in a Florida penitentiary.

You must be on the inmate's approved visitation list prior to visiting. One should fill visiting application form and the form is available in English and Spanish. Completed application (DC6-111A) should be mailed to the Classification Department at the inmate's current location. In other words mail the completed inmate visiting application to the mailing address above. Visiting Hours are as follows:
Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time).
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. (7:15 a.m. CST) on both days.
Visitors will not be processed after 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. CST) unless authorized by the duty warden.

I have not rec’d a phone call or a letter from my son, Michael R. Chenoweth DC# C07453, since the 24th of June. If he is in the infirmary or solitary confinement, can family still visit him? We can not afford to make that long trip only to find out that he can not receive visitors. Can you please let me know? My health is not real good, and the 2hour wait is extremly difficult, so it is of the utmost importance that I know before we come down there. Thank you!

      Hi Barb,

We recommend that you call the prison about his status for visitation. You may want to request a special visit because of your health and the long trip to come to the prison. If you do not receive any help, contact the prison chaplain for assistance.

Why would I be denied of visitation if I never been arrested or on probation? I have been approved to visit my daughter father that’s in another prison in Florida.,How can I find out? WHO DO I CONTACT?

      Hi Ms. Glasper,

Please note the following information about the final authority about the visitation application.
Who has final authority on visitation?

The warden at each facility has the final approval or disapproval authority for each visitation request. (See the Statewide Facility Directory for contact information).

From PrisonPath–We recommend contacting the warden’s office regarding your application. If you do not receive a response, try the prison chaplain for help.

Are inmates allowed to receive packages with food and personal hygiene items? If so, where can I find a list of things they can have?
