Charleston Correctional Center and Jail was opened on May 1, 2015 to replace the aging Charleston Work Release Center which had been in operation in Charleston since 1972. The facility operates a 96 bed co-educational work release unit, and a 32 bed female Residential Substance Abuse (RSAT) Unit.
