      Hi,

All prisons require a valid photo I.D. Many of the prisons will specify that a government issued I.D. is valid for identification. Most rules do not indicate that the government I.D. has to be from the United States. The Mexican government I.D. should be acceptable by the prison for visitation. However, I would call the prison in advance to see if there would be any problem using that identification. If the prison indicates that the I.D. is not acceptable, then your cousin should contact an attorney for assistance.
