Pickens County Detention Center Visitation Policy
Inmates will be allowed one 1 hour visit per week.
Visits are limited to 3 visitors of the inmates choosing. Only those listed on the visitation list filled out by the inmate will be allowed to visit.
All visitors must check in at the visitation window and present a valid; state issued I.D. and be issued a visitor pass from detention staff.
Anyone found in the visitation area not checked in and/or without a visitor pass will be subject to termination of immediate and future visiting privileges and/or trespass notice.
Visitors entering the facility are subject to a pat-down search. Visitors have the right to refuse the search; however, refusal terminates visitation privileges for that day.
No purses, bags, firearms or weapons of any type, chemical sprays, cell phones, or cameras will be allowed in the facility. All personal effects must be left at home or in their vehicle.
Officers may refuse a visit if a visitor appears under the influence of any intoxicating substance, refuses to cooperate, fails to produce identification or acts in a disorderly manner.
All visitors are required to follow the instructions of the Detention Staff. Visitors failing to cooperate will be asked to leave, terminating the visit and are subject to the revocation of visiting privileges.
Children are to be kept under supervision and control during the visit.
Visitors must wear conservative clothing. Short-Shorts, miniskirts, bathing suits, halter tops, tank tops, low cut shirts or other revealing clothing is prohibited and will prevent them from visiting. Any visitor who intentionally exposes themselves in violation of state law during a visit will be prosecuted criminally.

Can I bring inmates property like shoes, underwear, food or books? The Pickens County Detention Center does not accept ANY items for inmates, with the exception of prescribed medications.
How can I give an inmate a Bible or other kind of book? All books, including Bibles or religious material, must be mailed directly from the publisher. No books of any kind will be accepted by the detention staff, unless mailed from the publisher. The detention center reserves the right to refuse access to mailed books if they are deemed inappropriate. No books referencing gangs, drugs, graphic sexual content or graphic violence will be allowed.
What if I mailed a book to an inmate that was deemed inappropriate? That book will be placed in the inmate’s property and they may take it with them when they are released or transferred. We will not release books back to the purchaser or mail them back to the publisher.
Can I pick up property from an inmate? We do not release property such as clothes, shoes, purses, cellphones, wallets etc. The inmate will be given his/her property back when they leave or are transferred.
No time limit unless space availability is limited.
